My oldest son brought his family down for the Easter Weekend and wanted to see if his old man could put him on some crappie. Figuring with a challenge like that I'd probably get skunked but, not this weekend!
To keep this short, we fished Sat and Sun from sunup till noon. Had 98 total crappie plus a good assortment of trash fish and cleaned 34 good ones. All were mostly caught on brushpiles differing depths depending on what showed on DI.
Sunday we caught fish on every stop until we hit a pile fished by everyone that comes to CCL.
We fish strictly Jigum jigs and I almost always use 1/8 oz. And, if you think you have to downsize I'll just say we caught an awful lot of dinks on those bigger jigs! If I'd had anything larger with me I'd have tied it on. The dang dinks seemed to be lining up waiting for the jig to hit the water and then trying to destroy it. The bigger fish used more of a subtle bite.
Bigger fish were under 2lb and we used my sons camera for the few pics we took and he hasn't sent any to me so NO PICS...shoot me!!!
We could not have had a better time on the two nicest days this spring! And the boat and jetflea traffic was surprisingly light for a big holiday weekend. Just wish he could come down more often!

Fri, Sat and Sun were great spring days. Glad you went fishing and were able to enjoy them. I was almost tempted to sneak away Sunday morning but didn't get past the guard. Been using tiny 1/32oz jigs lately but I like my 1/8oz jigs best. I think the larger/heavier profile works great thanks for confirming the thought.

Hope you get the pictures and that your son visits more often.

Easter weekend,spending time with your son,and catching crappie to boot! It just don't get much better then that!

Didn't hear anything about a new record and stopped and visited with a few other long time crappie guys here on the lake. If you learn more, please let us all know.
I asked Jigum to make me some 1/4 oz jigs to try. Anything to slow down the dink bite!

I got just a quick report from my bud last nite
they met him (the yak guy) on CC and took a few pictures of a large black bass he ketched jigging for crappie while they were there
