Had a paper club tournament today. Sight fishing won took winning stringer. There were 14 guys 7 boats and was an individual tournament not team. There were two 22.5s and a 22 (inches) for big fish. If not sight fishing weightless fluke was best fished shallow ie less than 6ft. One of the big fish did come on a square bill. The bags were split almost 50/50 of the haves and the have nots. I think there were 4 maybe 5 limits caught. The warmest water I saw was 68 to 69. Lowest was in the morning at 58 to 59. I fished the west side and mid lake creeks in protected pockets/cuts/coves. I sight fished most the day but wasted too much time on bass that were not very territorial and should of had 5 instead of two. I should have managed time better and covered more water.Saw a picture off a ten pounder caught in mustang on Tuesday by a southern Illinois fishermen. It was his PB. Everyone I talked who fished last week said it was much slower today. A number of guys thought there were a lot of abandoned beds until afternoon when they started to move up. If you fished fork in the last 2 days please share results or let me know your thoughts on my comments.

I fished Saturday for about 4 hrs, didn't get on the water until after 1pm. While I only pitched at 2 fish ( had a friend of mine and his son who had never bed fished with me), we ended up putting quite a few fish in the boat in a short time. Biggest went around 8 with several in the 5-6 lb range. The guys got to see a good sampling of bed fishing. From cruisers looking, spooky fish that wouldn't lock up, bucks and females both on beds, locked up fish that you could drag a bait over and they wouldn't move to watching a couple of fish in the 8-9lb class dropping eggs. I spent the best part of the afternoon leaning on a push pole and coaching two newbies on what was going on and how that related to when to set the hook. It was one of the most enjoyable trips I've had in a while.
