Howdy,
If you don't have a boat or a kayak and are just looking for some bank spots, these are some good ones. The Brazos Center pond behind target. The police station in College Station. Gabbard park in CS. Finfeather lake is loaded with small bass. Walden pond off 2818 and holleman. Bryan golf course pond.
Boats and kayaks... Gibbons, and Lake somerville. Personally never head much luck in the rivers around here.
I fish alot around here. Sometimes a couple days a week. Shoot me a PM. I'd be happy to show you around.

I was curious if there is anything in the pond behind target. I saw a fish stocking truck running from pond to pond in creak meadows subdivision in wellborn and in the castle gate subdivision last week. Cat fishing from the bank at somerville should be really good as the weather warms up towards the end of the week. It was phenomenal fishing out of a boat for cats over there in May-July last year. Cj's punch bait in crawfish and monster bait flavors, I use peg on foam bobbers, number one split shots, and a number 8 treble....or a 6. I got phone calls from a couple friends last Saturday that limited out on white bass in 30 minutes first thing in the morning.
My passion...........figuring out the fish. I don't care what I catch!

I'm not much help when it comes to bass since I really don't target them much, but I've done quite a bit of fishing around College Station the last four years.
Gibbons Creek can be a blast this time of year for channel cats especially if you do have a boat or kayak. There is reasonable bank access if not though, especially just across the road from the spillway parking lot. Pulled out twelve keepers and five throwbacks last Friday in about a two hour span.
Brazos should be heating up for gator gar pretty soon if you're up for the challenge. Lots of blues and flatheads too. Haven't been out this year but am planning a trip for Wednesday.
If I just wanna have some fun in town and wet a line I usually fish the pond at the Bush Library. Catch and release only and you have to use barbless hooks but it can be fun. There are bass in there but I usually just use worms and fish for sunfish on an ultralight. There are some trophy class (>1 lb) sunfish in there.
There is actually some very good fishing in the area if you know where to look. And just my two cents, but a small investment in kayak opens up a lot of opportunities.

Gotta agree with AggieAngler'14 about the kayak. Just invested in one a few months back and I love it...so many more opportunities. And great advice on here so far, but a couple things I'd add. If you are up for a bass fishing challenge, Lake Raven over near Huntsville is a really neat little lake - really clear, calm water and lots of lily pads make for some great topwater fishing. I've also had quite a bit of luck at the Brazos where Batts Ferry Road dead ends. Park the car, walk down to the river, then head to the left about 100 yards or so, right before the trail heads up the little hill. That spot has produced some really nice cats for me and is loaded with gar...you'll see 'em coming up for air all over the place there. Word of warning though, any time you're fishing ANYWHERE around here, definitely keep an eye out for snakes. It is more unusual for me to not see one when I go out than otherwise.
