I used to fish alot when i was younger, never caught catfish that i remember, i have caught two in my last two outings. Anyway, what i was wondering , i need help with how to get them off my hook, and on a stringer to go in my fridge. The two times i caught cats' i had my two pliers out and got them unhooked safely and released. I just remember being told that the barbs sting like heck and obviously have bacteria and you could have trouble opening your pop bottle afterwards. I would like help on how to unhook them and get them on a stringer.. Thank You guys!!!

Buy a strong set of needlenose pliers. Grab the hook itself with the pliers and turn the hook so the point faces down. Give it a strong handshake-like motion and the fish will come right off without you even touching it.
