Lowrance HDI Elite 7 has a menu selection button in the GPS section for Lowrance & Navionics.
1.) Does this mean that it is already set up with Navionics info ?
2.) or that you should go there if you have a Navionics chip in?
3.) what is the best "add-on" chip for this unit ?

I've had Hotmaps and now have lakemaster. Lakemaster is a lot better info and map. Just click on the mapping chip you want to use.

My fishing partner has one on his boat and had to buy a chip, the way it comes out of the box left alot to be desired

I have one and had to buy the Navionics Hotmaps Premium South. It was $150 at Bass Pro but now there is a $30 discount.

Will the lakemaster chip work on the lowrance units like the hds 8??

I think they currently have the Navionics Hotmaps Platinum South on sales as well.

Lakemaster will not work ... at least that is what I was told at BPS.

Lakemaster will not work with Lowrance. It is specially designed for Humminbird.

If you have an old lake master for lowrance you can use it, lake master stopped making ships for lowrance when bird bough them out.

You can buy with no transducer or map, add $100 to order with transducer, add another $70 to order with Navionics chip.
