My Motor Guide, 24V TM, over heated and burned the connector plug today. The breaker on the at the batteries tripped, so the damage is limited to just the plug in adapter on the trolling motor. I'm thinking to just replace it myself and keep an eye on things to make sure everything is ok, or if there is a local place I can take it to and have it looked at that might be a better choice. Any recommendations?

They have worked on my stuff two different times and both were perfect. I didn't even know a trolling motor could be tuned. They made it pure like a kitten.

Have you guys ever seen one get hot enough to burn the plug like that? I don't want to worry about it too much, it seems like a simple fix but I am wondering what would cause this to happen or if it just happens sometimes.

Sounds like a problem or no breaker and got real hot. Need to get a circuit breaker installed so it trips first and doesn't happen again.

Sorry you have breaker, may have short, or bad/loose connection at plug.

If it is one of those twist lock plugs, the wires will come loose or the screws inside the plug that hold down the wires will back off. And if that connection is not good it will melt. Had it happen twice on one of my boats. Hope this helps.

That's what it is. I think it will be ok to replace the plug and see what happens. Haven't had any issues with it until today. It did seem a little sluggish but I just thought it was because it was so damn windy where I was. It just got real hot and melted.

I was there yesterday to buy a part. Very friendly and knowledgeable.

Slade I've got the parts to put a new plug set on it if you want to come out this way. I'm tied up until Sunday but if you want Rodney can pick it up and bring it to you. I have the wire too if you need a new power lead.
