Anybody fit that description?

I am looking for a new place to launch the yak that is close to shallow water. I know all the major boat ramps but looking for somewhere up a creek or big cove that would work. I looked on Google Maps and up Cedar Cove there looks to be a road on east side that goes all the way to the water and no houses at the end of the road. It is off of 1460?

Anybody know that place or have other ideas let me know. Don't want honey holes (unless you are feeling real generous cool) just some place for shallow water fishing.

Thanks,

I heard that not too many yakers brave Tawakoni. What are you targeting that you want shallow water?

For shallow points No creeks with coves n easy access to the dam you may concider holiday.
Well before you enter the marina there is a paved rd to the right that USED to take u right the water frown
Lake is really low now But it puts u between the marina and the dam. Lots of stripes and cats in that area.

I kayak fish a lot at Tawakoni. I always launch at the Anchor INN, $7 per person access fee. Really good fishing area. The place is clean and you can camp there for the night for addition charge.

I live 10 miles from Tawakoni but have never really fished it. Since I got my Ride I really want to try it. I have been staying with Cedar Creek during the spawn since I know it but once spawn is over I plan to hit Tawakoni. From what I have seen in most reports on Tawakoni it looks to be a really good cat lake is this about right?

Looking for crappie. I know most areas for sandies/hybrids but have never really done any shallow water on twok. All the major ramps I have launched from before are a pretty good distance from shallow spawning areas.

I've been launching over by the water company off of 751. Puts you in the timber in 0-6' of water. I haven't hit the crappie good but do manage a couple each trip. Also been catching some nice blues in that same area while crappie fishing. I also scouted down at rabbit cove. They have a ramp nod there was some nice timber up in a cove haven't fished it yet but it looked pretty protected from the wind

Tawakoni is a GREAT catfish lake! The whitebass and hybrids will also keep you busy if you're in the right spot. With the lake approaching 10' low, there's not alot of ramps open. It's pretty much find a safe place to park,(not West Tawakoni) and do the yak drag shuffle across the mud. On the upside,,you won't necessairly have to have your head on a swivel as the boat traffic is almost unheard of. The wind is going to be the biggest factor with any kayak trip on Tawakoni.
