Does anyone have any information on the environmental damage of the oil spill? Do y'all think it will have any sizable impact for this summers fishing or even further in the future?

Honestly its been less news than I thought it would be. They opened it back to ships, fishing, and swimming today in the channel. The reports seem to make it like its not a big deal. I hope that's the case!

No real damage as of yet, it's bunker oil which makes it tricky to clean because half floats and half sinks, we were lucky because on the day it happened we had a front come in with a strong north wind and it pushed a bunch of it off shore, honestly ya it sucks but it's not a disaster, it was something like 160,000gallons lost, but the bp oil spill was pumping MILLIONS out a DAY, I'm down here at a&m less than 10miles from where it happened and we haven't seen any oil

the Galveston Daily News is keeping up with the cleanup and seems to be the best information that i have found. http://www.galvestondailynews.com/back in the 80s when you went to the beach, you would step on a oil/tar ball and it was a pain to get off your foot but i always thought of it being the price to pay for having cheaper gas prices than the rest of the country.

I heard some of the locals were not really too concerned about it just yet. Like ya its a bummer but not that big a deal, just what I heard. But the Day of<< "A dude I fish with Had property down there and fished that area for 15 years, he literally sat down and cried like a baby, broke his heart!"
