Hello Bright. I'm a little surprise to hear a guy from Dallas want to drive down to south for fishing. I always thinking of Dallas for fishing... white, striper, hybrid, etc.. Most of them are within an hour. There are many places where you can do bank fishing for these fish. Sand bass, while it is smaller amount other bass, it is fun to catch as there are so many of them in the creek.

Here are a few spots if you have not heard. One below Tawakani damp. One below Danon Dan of 75 high way near Oklahoma. And one more below the dam near Rockwall of 205 (I cannot remember the dam very well as I have not been there for some time now). If you just want to catch any fish, this is a good place as you not only catch white, you will hook a huge carp almost every time.

By the way don't get me wrong, we love you come down South fishing and enjoy the southern view.

One thing i forgot to mentioned is that, I have not seen shad on the bank of the water yet. Usually, by this time of the year, there are millions of them a long the edge of the water. The cold weather seems to last for quite some time this year.

I wonder why the shad get so thick on the lake shore lines in the mornings. So many reflection flashes going off at one time. And they are feeding on stuff just above the water line, so part of their heads are out of the water as they nibble at the bank. I love watching this though. That tells me where to throw my top water bait. Hehehehe....

Bare legged wade fishing during that time of the year will get your leg hair a shad-egg shampoo! Look real close along the shoreline and you can see the millions of eggs clinging to whatever they can!..

Well cool, I finally get to post a White Bass catching report...seems like it's been awhile.

I fished Nails Creek today from about 11:30 4:30. I almost forgot how much fun it is fishing that little creek. Didnt do great, but didnt do horrible either. I ended the day with 4 keeper White Bass to take home to the skillet.

I definitely feel like my White Bass fishing skills are a little rusty. I couple times while I was fishing a spot I had somebody come up from the other side and start pulling out fish. I had to laugh a little when a lady with a Zebco walked up and pulled out 3 straight fish out of a spot where I hadnt got a bite in at least 15 minutes.

There was hardly anybody fishing when I first got to the creek, but a couple big groups must have showed up after I got there. At one point I looked around and saw about 10 people around me. Mostly everybody had something on the stringer. I would say if youre going to go, dont wait. The water is very shallow and I dont think those fish will be there much longer. The hot spot today was the stretch just downstream from the trail way bridge, all the way down to the where the creek makes a bend. I actually tried farther downstream from the bend, but didnt have any luck.

I as well fished nails yesterday. Got to the trailway bridge about 8 and it was hot! Wish i wouldve gotten there a little earlier because as the day went on the fishing got slower for us atleast. ended up walking a pretty good ways down the creek(no clue how far) pulling fish out of different holes. Between me and my brother ended the day with 21 whitebass and 1 crappie. Was great being back out there!

My two nephews and their gals fished Nails creek Sunday afternoon too! They did OK catching 8 whitebass and one big-a$$ turtle wink It can be very tricky to catch whitebass in the smaller creeks where just about any thing you might do spooks the fish. I'll put on a good sneak up to a hole if I think it might hold fish. Like I've always said about hunting or fishing: "don't just rush in and catch one.. sneak in and catch them all!" It pays to be sneaky whether fishing or hunting.. think about blending into the bank and brush.. camo..

This damn weather ain't making it easy on me to go fishing. Gonna have to take a weekday off to go. Weekends have been really crappy. So happy the suns out on Monday. Supposed to start clouding up again by weekend and produce more rain. Don't get me wrong, rains good, but how about a nice weekend for a change and rain during the week.

I'm done venting. bang

Fished yesterday and had a great day! Fished for about 2 hours and caught 15 nice keepers. Probably could have caught more but 15 is more than enough for me! I will say, the electricity is out at the Nails Creek cleaning station so if you are planning on using an electric knife to fillet your fish, think again I found out the hard way. Also, lots of people on the creeks now. Saw more people yesterday than I ever have.

Lots of folks watch and read TFF and the state park's facebook page just waiting for the reports to come in.. which they have wink
It will be a zoo until the whitebass finish there baby making business in the creeks and head back to the lake. Things usually calm down very quickly in the creeks by mid April through the rest of the year until next February thru March. I don't make it a priority to fish the creeks once the run has begun, I just like to be there when it starts!
