According to TPWD, Buffalo Springs Lake is OK for crappie fishing. Anyone tried it?

When I lived in Lubbock, Memorial Day weekend was the best time to catch them spawning. There are some big ones in there. My favorite places were on the east side of the lake.

I think that rating is based on stock levels, not actual fishing reports. but I could be wrong.

But speaking of the lake, I havn't caught crappie out of there in years, and even then, they were dinks.
If I were you, I keep on driving to Lake Alan Henry

I went down to Buffalo Springs today and tried the Crappie House. Not sure who planned that one but I'm not sure Crappie would ever go around that thing. I looked around the lake but didn't really see any other places that were accessible. I looked around by the dam but the shoreline was kind of sketchy.

Couldn't agree more. I don't think the water was even 4 foot deep inside when I went out there in mid March
