My trolling motor just started moving sideways a lot and makes a lot of noise when it does, also when I put it up into storing position it sometimes does not land in place but off to the side. Is there something loose in the upper head, or broken?
Thank you

Mine was, is doing the same thing. Boris said he replaced a couple "parts" from MK but it did not help very much. I wish i would have asked what parts. I think the newer Fortrexs are alot tighter than when they first come out! At least my buddys is.

Is the Allen bolt that holds the bow guard assembly tight?

From the description, sounds like a possible broke shaft. With it deployed, see if you can "wiggle" the shaft at the lower unit. John

Look were the trolling motor pivots near the top or the most rear pivot point when the trolling motor is stored. There is a plastic ring around the pivot ring that is most likely broken.
It's just a greased plastic ring but it plays a major role in the trolling motor as far as noise etc.

From above post. This is correct and a good place to look. If the wiggling is excessive, as you indicated, the bolts holding the pivot may be broke also. John
