I have a Humminbird 798 hd on the console and an Lowrance Elite 7 on the bow both of which have internal GPS. I just put the lowrance on earlier this week and checked it out this weekend. The GPS on it is a little to laggy for me and was looking for a GPS puck that would speed up the returns. I fish a lot of brushpiles and a more fluid GPS makes it much easier to find them. While I am at that I figured I should just update the Humminbird as well. My question is there are several options and are they that much better than the internal GPS that already come with the units? Any people with first hand experience with either one of the brand external pucks? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Humminbird has the most accurate GPS antenna.

IF you fish brush piles, an antenna with a heading sensor is the best choice for either.

Point 1 for Lowrances
AS GPS HS for Humminbirds

Additionally use the Casting Ring setting with the Humminbird.

Yea the one I was looking at for the lowrance had a heading sensor. Are the update speeds any better for the pucks you mentioned?
