I have been every year since 2008 normally in Jan or Feb. Having been debating on wether or not to make the pilgrimage this year. After making several trips to local lakes with little to show for my efforts I think I need a change of scenery. Not to mention I have a buddy from Texarkana who has never been and is riding me hard about going this month around the 12th-15th. Anyone have a recent report so I know what's going on right now? I looked on Falcon tackle site but his last report was on the 25th and was not very positive. Water temps? Patterns? Any info would be helpful.

James' reports haven't been good for quite a while. Gotta believe it'll get better but who knows? Hell, I'd go just to get out of the frozen tundra.

We just got back after 5 days. Fished 4 hard full days due to a front blowing in on Wednesday.
We caught fish in Coyotes, Blanco, Tigres, State Park, School Bus and OPEC. Fish are scattered on Hard Wood and seemed to be more in the green stuff. We managed 20-25 fish in 4 days and had 12 more bites. Mag Flukes in Watermelon Magic with a split shot worked best along with baby brush hogs in a Watermelon Purple Flake w 3/8 ounce pegged weight.
Lost 2 fish over 9 pounds that we saw. Biggest bass boated was 6 pounds. Fished in 6' or less and up in the chit. Lake looks awesome but fishing sucks by Falcon standards. Folks were reporting visibility beyond 10' deep but we never found that. I sure hope it turns around. I think there is a lot of spawners yet to move up. Water was anywhere from 63-74 degrees.

Very tuff for most visitors. We had 5 boats, 3 to 4 bites each, a day. Same with all we talked to.

Well... Even though the reports are not very positive it has to better than what it will be here after 2 - 3 days of temps below freezing. It was painfully tough before this cold snap. Not much hope of it improving around here any time soon. I saw the lake was 24 feet low. Can you get into any of the creeks up the river or are they all too shallow?

Have been to Falcon in Dec, Jan and Feb (last Week). The December trip was good with my buddy landing an 11.28 and several others over 5 pounds. Jan and Feb sucked. We Caught 15 fish total over 2.5 days of fishing last week. Most were off of one spot that we beat to death because we knew they had to be there, and no one else was catching much anywhere else. Big fish was 5.62. Very disappointing by Falcon standards. The guides are struggling to catch fish right now too. We heard that one guide found them on Monday with around a 35lb sack, but that may have been a hopeful rumor. Falcon is a shadow of its former self. The fishing is very tuff, but as always with Falcon, one fish can make the whole trip if its the right fish. We caught most of our fish on Senkos fishing 3-6' of water and couple others on TX-rigged Lizards. Strangely enough, we never found the fish sitting on rocks this winter/spring. That's always been the key in years past. Not sure what caused that change...maybe it was the never ending freight train of cold fronts that screwed them up this year. If your looking to just get out of the cold weather and wet a line, then go for it. If your looking for the Falcon Lake of years past, you'll be sadly disappointed.

I am working on a "current state of Falcon Lake" report. Should be done at some point today.
Good luck while you're down Jigit.

Have to pretty much agree with Hoosier Daddy. I also live in San Antonio and fish Falcon pretty regular. Simple truth is Falcon bass are warm weather fish. The hotter it is the better your chances to have a fun trip of catching fish. Even from San Antonio it is alot of time and money to gamble on Falcon this time of year. Late April on would be much better odds of having a good trip. If you got to wet a hook your time and money would be better spent on a quality power plant lake like maybe Fayette right now.

We have been coming to Falcon for the winter for 6 years. During that time, we have been blessed to have had really good luck.......til this year. All that has been said about it being tuff is right on. BUT, this is Falcon, and anyone on any cast can catch a PB. Lots of fronts this winter haven't helped either. But, it beats being in the frozen mid-west and north. A normal day fishing this year has been from -0- bites to 10-11 fish. The good news is the bass look really healthy. Pray for a good spawn........
