Trying to figure out a creek around here to take my kayak on to fish for some sandbass tomorrow morning. I just moved down here a month ago and just got my kayak down here a few days ago and figure tomorrow would be the day to give it a shot. If anyone minds pointing me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. I don't care to know specific spots just be pointed towards the right direction and I will find the spots myself.

Not much here locally at the moment, Lake Somerville (Yegua creek) and Conroe (San Jacinto river) are both to low and not producing whitebass. The Trinity river has been producing but I've never kayaked that river. Best bet is probably the lock and dam on highway 7 just outside of Crockett. It is a very popular place so expect lots of company...

Can you catch them in the Brazos? say near chapel hill off 290? or near Bellville off 159?

Generally whitebass in the rivers are coming up from a large lake or reservoir somewhere downstream. Lake Waco is the last reservoir on the Brazos river so there probably isn't a big number of whitebass this far down. I've not fished the Brazos any further south then Waco so I cannot say what's in there to catch.

I'm going to the Yegua again Friday noonish if I can get away from work. The tables say the peak for the day will be right around sunset. The crappie should be active from the warm days we have had all week.
