Spent four days on the Sabine River this past weekend, and had a great time, mostly.

My brand new Elite 7 DSI quit reading/displaying any sonar readings what so ever. DSI still works, as well as the GPS. But 200khz and 83khz stopped all together. Any thoughts on this? At times, I can actually hear the transducer clicking too, if this makes any difference.

My MinnKota Riptide 70lb hand control also took a dump yesterday. It's less than 1yr old, never abused. It acted like the batteries went dead, all at once. I lifted it out of the water and stepped on the button. It slung water off the blades way too long to be just residual water inside the hub. I think the seal is broken and the motor housing is filling with water.

Both of the above items are less than 1yr old. mad

At this point, I'm less than impressed with either one, and having both fail in one long weekend of fishing leaves me a bit peeved.

Got the Trolling Motor back from All Star today. Props to them for the quick turn around. Seems something let go inside the motor housing and tore the armature up pretty bad. Whatever it was let the seal get eaten up and the armature got set back so the prop hub was rubbing the housing too. I never hit anything very hard, just normal use. Still scratching my head over that one. Got it back all fixed up. Going to put it to the test tomorrow.

Lowrance told me how to do a soft reboot on the Elite 7. It made no difference. The tech said it sounds like the transducer burnt a crystal. Looks like I'm gonna have to pull the transducer and send it to them for troubleshooting. It sux, mainly because the cable is not really that easy to fish out and back in.
