What are the Kahle hooks used for? How do they compare to circle hooks?

Main difference is that you need to SET the Kahle hook and circles SET themselves. I still use a hook that requires me to set it because I think that is part of the fun. Personal preference.

Main difference is that you need to SET the Kahle hook and circles SET themselves. I still use a hook that requires me to set it because I think that is part of the fun. Personal preference. If I fished alone mostly I would prefer the Kahle too, as setting the hook is way too fun!  On the flip side, hook up rates go up w/ cirlces.

I don't know if I totally agree with the hookup ratio. Depends mostly on what someone experienced and everyone is a little different.
Using jerk style hooks takes a little more organized skill than a circle, so there is a learning curve, but once you are someone that has gotten past that, then they are pretty equal.
So if you are guiding, then circles would be an excellent choice.
Lots of folks don't know how to use jerk hooks and they work better with clicker setups...
And if you have back troubles, then there is another reason to move to circles lol

Agree I prefer Sickle hooks with the gap widened just a hair I dont want to just "hook'em" I want to punch a hole in them,and I do. I don't know if I totally agree with the hookup ratio. Depends mostly on what someone experienced and everyone is a little different.
