Hugehail, welcome to the Forum.

When you get down there, hook up with Capt. Andrew. His pricing is very reasonable and he works hard to put people on fish. He will be able to give you some ideas where to fish. When new to an area, especially one as diverse as this one, it is a good idea to hook up with a guide with the local knowledge.

Good luck, and let us know how it went.

Thanks Curt0407!
Weather has been alot better this past week and the water should be warming up. The bite is still on and is only gonna get better.

I drove to Beach access #5 to fish on the surf today and did great! The water was very low, the waves were 1 foot and the Whiting were out. Not in large schools, but I did manage to catch some that I invited to dinner. It's about time we get a few fish for our efforts in that cold water. I wore shorts, t-shirt and water shoes, everyone else had waders.??!

Hi FL Fishlady
I was one of those wimps wearing waders yesterday. My buddy and I went down 12 miles from entrance 5 on Sunday and found a nice spot where we could easily walk out onto the first sandbar and cast to the 2nd.

From 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, we caught 30 whiting (all on fish bites) and went back home and had a fish fry under the car port with the neighbours and watched the NFL games.

It was a great day.

While fishing this past Sunday on the surf, I should have reported that the water was extremely low, clear with no weed and the waves were 1 foot. Fished the first gut with fishbites, shrimp flavor. Did catch a nice Pompano! I went home when the tide started in and I saw my first "Man of War" Jellyfish come up on the beach in front of me.

Fished the surf today before the front. The water was mean, had to use #6 spider weights to hold the bottom. No weed to fight. Brought in one Whiting...waves were so bad I didn't know he was on. Some fellows were fishing for shark just up from me. They used a kayak to try to get their bait out past the breakers. It kept flipping over and he'd pull it back to shore. Finally gave up on that. We gave them our whiting and left just before the rain came.

Its a great day to hang out inside for sure.... I'm going through all the tackle today and have a shipment of kayaks coming in... I do not want to open the garage door...

The weather was beautiful yesterday, Monday, but the catch on the surf was non-existent. I did hear the catch on the Murphy's Deep Sea outing was very good this past weekend! That's about it!
