I found a license plate today in about 3 feet of water on the boat ramp and used my dip net to get it. Number is TX 91969P. It's hanging next to another plate but I washed my hands and lost the number to it,,,Sorry. They are both hanging on a sign on the right side of the ramp at Overlook.
I caught a limit today in three hours dragging red minnows on the bottom in the number one area pictured. Some others like the number two area but I don't anchor and don't like single pole fishing. You can catch bigger fish sitting next to the channel but for the last 40 or so winters I always fish the nearby flats. Look for shad so thick that your depth finder has trouble reading the bottom in 29 to 33 feet.

We almost caught a 3 man limit in number 2 today! Tried 1 yesterday but didn't fare too well. Agree with the shad theory.

Great report Percher.

Are you getting the red minnows somewhere near the lake? I've been using the shop as you go into Johnson Creek and I don't think they have reds.

Thanks.

very good post!!!! there is another post in the general fishing section about sharing secret spots. I have always shared with gps and photos when I can. I think this is a way to get others interested in fishing, especially the youngsters, and those with limited knowledge of fishing. I think what percher posted Is first class!!!!! kudos to you!!!!

Liberty, you can get reds at 3 Way grocery at the intersection of 49 and 729. Not sure if Top's or Chevron in Crestwood have them.

I lost my plate and was going to that ramp, but discovered it was gone while hooking up to leave. Planned to get a replacement today, but with the holiday, will have to wait.

Sorry I'm no help in finding those Reds near the lake. I buy 'em wholesale in Shreveport (Northwood bait) and have my own tank. The reds do SO much better since these Yellow bellys will kill a silver sinner quickly and a Red will still be there kicking away after hours of fishing. They live for months in my tank and the silvers only last a few weeks. Plus the shiners don't live long at 30 feet. There are really no secrets for winter fishing on LOP. I just like trolling or drifting depending on the wind and my way is easy for everyone to catch numbers. If you see a 21 foot Triton with "GET THE NET" in big letters on the side some say hi. If you've never been or have not found a way to catch 'em give me a call and I'll tell you so things to try,, but hurry its not gonna last much longer. Don

BTW,,,,Every body knows about using a drift sock and I use one when its warm with light winds myself. One other trick that works better is dragging about 6-8 feet of 3/8 chain on 75 feet of rope. I tie it to the side of my boat to drift sideways and the beauty it is you can feed out rope to keep more or less chain in contact with the bottom to adjust speed, when its time to move you just start the engine and run back letting the chain to drag along side, your hands don't get cold/wet, it stays out all day, it seems to have no affect on the fish, and when your done just put it in a small bucket with the chain on top of the rope and forget it. Enjoy, Don
