Humminbird had a huge price reduction going into 2014 from previous years. The new models will have a internal GPS antenna.

The 859ci HD DI has an internal GPS antenna, an Ethernet connection that is part of the cable collector, and has less capabilities than the 858 series. The new 800 series are basically a wide screen version of the 700 series units that are discontinued.

In essence they are the same unit.
The 858c HD DI combo Ethernet compatible (no adapter required) It has the external GPS antenna 7" Display
The 859ci HD DI combo Ethernet compatible but requires the ethernet adapter cable It has the internal GPS antenna 7" Display
Each model will have the same transducer

So is the 858 better than the 959..I read something about different transducers? The transducer difference is with the Side Imaging versions (898 vs. 899). The 859 is not Navionics Hotmaps Platinum compatable. That is why it is more like the 700 series DI units. It is sort of like a "dumbed down" version of the 858c HD DI to offer a 7" display unit at a lower price point.
