What's the difference between a Lowrance Elite 4x (from Academy's) and a Lowrance Elite 4x HDI Fishfinder (from Bass Pro)? Both are the same price $169. From their description, they're just about the same. Bass Pro doesn't mention "HDI" in it's description of the unit. However, Bass Pro does mention "HDI" in it's description of another unit (Lowrance Elite 4x Fishfinder with DownScan Imaging for $199). Did Bass Pro mislabeled their Lowrance Elite 4x unit?

HDI=hybrid dual imaging, which is a combination of 83/200 + 455/800 (or 2D + DSI)

Sounds mislabeled. The regular Lowrance Elite 4x does not have 455/800 (DSI)

Lowrance has been sneaky and made this a bit confusing; but from their website, the difference between the Lowrance Elite 4x HDI and the Lowrance 4x DSI is that the HDI includes both regular 2D and DSI, while the DSI is just DSI and no 2D. The regular Lowrance Elite 4x is just 2D and no DSI.

If they are the same price, I would get the HDI, that way you get both the 2D regular sonar and the DSI.

I would also go with the HDI if it's in the budget. Just one question. How are you going to mount it on your golf bag? rolfmao

Very good question Todd rolfmao I'm leaning towards the Lowrance Elite 4x HDI Fishfinder with DownScan Imaging it's only $30 more than other 2 units.

I would advise that you save your money for a while longer to get a larger screen. Makes a HUGE difference with being to see all the DSI data.

The next option is Lowrance Elite-5x HDI Fishfinder for $399. Anybody have a review for this unit?

Warning! A big buffalo thrashing around in your yak can crack the screen of a Lowrance 4 Series. Don't ask me how I know, I just do.
