Recently lost a bearing buddy somewhere between here and Falcon lake. Looking to have the bearings on my trailer looked at and cleaned/packed and new bearing buddys replaced. Looking for a service tech around the Richardson Area.

As of right now, I am considering Rockwall Marine, anyone have suggestions/personal experience?

Some unsolicited advice. I have had several people tell me don't use bearing buddies. Get them well packed and sealed and leave them alone. Depending on how many miles you put on them repack every couple of years. Feel them regularly and see if they're getting hotter than normal. The vast majority of the time they'll begin getting hot before they totally fail.

it is for sure not an hr job, I have been doing my own bearings for yrs and never in less than 2-3 to do them right.

I just replaced races/bearings/seals on a trailer and it was about 4 hrs total with no real problems

How different is it from replacing bearings, packing them on a car? Ive done that before, if its pretty similar, I would love to do it myself, but would like some guidance to make sure im not messing it up. If anyone wants to help me I can pay you in beer! Haha if its gonna cost me around $100 to do it at a shop, I might just go ahead and do that at APT or Rockwall Marine or Plano Marine.

I have a MAC Tools wheel bearing packer that is easy to use, all you have to do is put the bearing in the unit put the top on and pump grease in via the zerk fitting and it fills the bearing air voids completely with grease. I use a blue grease just for marine usage, it doesn't break down when water gets in. I have a full set of 2 inner and 2 outer bearing pregreased so I can replace any bearings that fail enroute to or from the lake. I keep them in the boat so I don't leave them behind, they are kept with the tools needed to change bearings on the road.

If you are handy its definitely a job you can do yourself. Search YouTube for boat trailer bearings watch a few videos and decide if you want to tackle it. Buy your Marine grade grease at an auto parts store versus boat supply much less of a mark up. I always by spare seals, cotter pins and surgical type gloves to keep the hands clean.

the best grease you can use is mystic jt6, wal mart should have it. this is some excellent stuff and the same that the oil field uses for high pressure apps.
