Hey guys, (poll should now be working)

Have you ever watched a fishing video, and 90% of the content is endorsement plugs? This will not be that kind of show. Hi, it's Ben, the producer of Collegiate Match Fishing, I've been working on a new show that test fishing myths and will hopefully improve your scientific and engineering skill on the water. As a fellow angler, I know that I have had to do my homework to sort through the information to get logical answers to some questions. This is my way of giving back and stream lining the process, as I have yet to find a reliable source to continually pull from. THIS WILL NOT BE LURE ENDORSMENTS! In fact, the concentration will be on the biological, mechanical, physics, and chemistry of a day on the water. That way, you can use you're own situational awareness and expanded knowledge base to hone lure, tackle, and towing & boat rigging. The only time I will recognize an individual or company is if they provide data or resources on the topic. That includes viewer comments.

As an naval nuclear propulsion operator and an engineering student, I've heard a lot of "popular" theories or explanations that have no real reasoning. So to dispel the advertised claims or word of mouth info, this show will be done with lots of research and supporting evidence. There will be no sacred cows and everything can be questioned.

There is a poll, and if you would like to add a topic, I will be reviewing comments. If you wanted a topic covered in a comment, please select the last choice on the poll add the users name that originated the topic in your response.

Thanks for your time guys, and I really want to add some legitimate information that everybody can use.

I would like to see the truth, rather than opinions, regarding best times for catching fish according to the moon phases (Dark, full, waxing,& waning). I have a chart that was given me ranging from best trophy cycle to fair and then there are the Astro tables in Bassmaster magazine. I still do not find these projections to be accurate.

Solunar tables have always had that mystic of ancient wisdom and pure nonsense. That is a great idea and I would love to cover that topic! It would definitely would be a hard one to find conclusive evidence to support it definitively, but to collect some data and research some history behind the tables.

+1 on the wind discussion. One school of thought says that baits should move with the wind because fish are looking that way to ambush and the other says that they should move against the wind for reaction bites. I've seen both work through the decades but it's something that we all would probably benefit from a better understanding.

Now Entering the Black Forest
Caution:
-camouflage cottonmouths
-stumps are perpetually 4" under surface
-unforecast windstorms
-gators that act funny
-game wardens off their meds
Have a Nice Day smile
