no but I had 2 reasons to post this, first to compare to the sharelunker threads. it is a shame that 550 died but had the minnow bucket staff asked just a couple of questions this might not have happened (I am not disparaging the staff either).
second is to maybe make some on here think about what they actually know or can do for a deep caught or gut hooked fish, maybe some will make an attempt to learn proper care if they don't already know how.

not trying to put anyone down because for all anyone knows 550 might have died no matter what so no blame is being placed on anyone.

This was posted because another share lunker came out of Fork recently but it died because it was pulled up from deep water. It was caught 12/27 and died 12/29. It weighed 13.6 pounds and was caught by Blake Eppinette of Downsville, LA. No report of how deep the bass was caught.

My family runs the website for Mustang Resort (http://www.mustangresort.com). That's how I found out.

Well I'm still in my first year of bass fishing and regardless of the name it got me thinking about it. Although I've never caught bass anywhere near deep enough to need fizzing.

Why doesn't the bass de-fizz itself? The process too slow or something?

Exactly, it is just like a diver surfacing too fast, and needing a hyperbaric chamber -- deep sea fishermen pulling fish off the bottom of the ocean see them die alot more frequently than bass fishermen

I suck at deep water, so I don't even bother carrying anything to fizz a fish, but really wouldn't releasing it as quick as you could be a better option than giving a novice a needle and telling them to have at it?

I think jabbing needles into a fish that needs to get back into deep water sounds like it could do more harm than good

that being said, I do not really know jack about this subject, so if anyone can explain why that is a bad idea that would be appreciated
