For a one day trip? We have been going to the LMF for years but have never been to the Blue. We are rookie Fly guys and the Blue is 1hr away and the LMF is 3hrs away. We were just at the LMF for 5 days before Christmas but thought the Blue might be nice for once. Does the Blue even compare to the LMF?

As far as scenery goes the Blue does not compare to the LMF, also the Blue is not a year round fishery,so the fish dont have any time to grow if not caught. Both nice places to Fish, and the Blue is a 30 minute walk into the C&R area witch kinda keeps the poaching down.

Common Sense has become so rare that it should be considered a super power

If you choose LMF you should wait until the 3rd week In Jan. I've spent the past 6 days draining the LMF of Trout. It's been a blast starting with last Sunday 45 Fish most over 16" with the largest of the week going 25.5"

Most were returned and caught again, hook marks. I only saw 1 person each day until Thursday in Spillway Creek when I ran across a family wearing them out on Worms, Earth Worms.

Today, Cold Hole had 50+ folks fishing with Earth Worms, Eggs, Bubble Gum, Crackers you name it, it was a Zoo.

Evening Hole was packed as was every nook and cranny along the cliffs to Cold Hole.

40' Hole had a number of folks as well since the water down the entire Creek is wade-able.

Start of the Week the only color they ate was Pink, Yesterday and today is was Red.

A trio of easterners caught the giants yesterday by using 6'6" bait casters, 2/0 Hooks 20Lb. line and Whole Earth Worms drifted diagonal across the current. Had to watch 18 20" trout leave the Creek in a 5 Gal. Bucket.

I had a blast and will never fish the weekend again.

Denny
