The technique I use the most is throwing a 1/4oz to a 1/2 oz lipless crankbait under and around docks. If you could have any rod what would it be for this technique?

I use a Denali Mark Tyler multipurpose signature series 7'4 MH Moderate-fast tip. enough backbone to winch em out and soft tip to keep me from ripping it outta their mouth

under and around docks with the lighter lipless baits i foresee roll casts. i would recommend a 6 to 66 m-mh in whatever rod maker you favor with a shorter handle.

I throw my traps on a duckett 7'6". It is longer but fishes like a shorter rod. You can pitch to close targets then cover water I between docks. I fish it with with 30# braid or 17# flourocarbon. I also have the 7'11" for the flats. In my opinion I cant find a better trap rod.

Hook Spit has a prototype trap rod that we are working on. We expect to have it available soon for custom orders, just like we did with the 10XD rod that is by far the very best (really it's the only option) for throwing the huge crank baits.

If anyone wants a custom 10XD, trap, spinner bait, medium crank bait, or flipping rod I can get you a 20% discount with my code. The rod will be custom made with your choice of colors, handle material (foam or cork), etc.

If you're interested give me a PM and I'll get you my code as well as details on how to place an order for what is, in my opinion, the best rod for the money.

Probably a 6-6.6 MH with modfast tip, I just bought one and tied a lipless crank on it today.

My chioce would be a 13 Fishing Omen Black in a 7'3" M. It has a good tip, with lots of Bone! Pair it with an Revo SX, very light and will cast like a rocket.
