I caught this bass on Lake Fork back on April 30, 2008. This was the last day of Share lunker season. Was going to fish out deeper for post spawners that day but my buddy talked me into going shallow for a bit early in the morning. Caught her on the 3rd cast of the day! 5" weightless Ring Fry. She weighed 13.02 on my Berkley digital scales but seemed bigger. Keep in mind I am 6',2" and 230 lbs. I decided to let her go after a quick pic because my livewells were acting up. I checked my scales when I got home and found out they were way off, by almost a pound. Still wish I could have gotten the weight certified. However, after watching her swim away I trolled over to the spot where she hit my bait. There she was sitting on a bed that I didn't know was there. I have this pic framed on my wall and just took a pic of it with my cell phone. Oh, that was the only fish I caught that day lol!

Similar story, kinda! I always like to try to get out on the last day you can catch a SAL and last year, 4/30/12 wasn't any different. Went to Lake Austin around 8-9am and was surprised to find the 360 parking lot lightly used.

Saw schooling fish everywhere, threw a swimbait long enough and finally had it pay off with what was probably a new PB for me. I never got a weight on her but it was the first time I had a fish that size jump 3' in the air and seeing that was so cool. When she was still down it was pretty awesome thinking she might be a 13 but when she jumped, yeah, it was pretty obvious she wasn't going to make the grade but still, that fish made my day! I also had a 7+ about an hour later, too and got off the water not much longer after that.

Probably should've gotten a scale, but she was starting to become a little stressed in my little livewell and I wanted to get her back in the water. I feel comfortable thinking she might have been close to 11.

That is a big ole fish big mike. She looks every bit of 13, I'd say.

Which way was your scale off?

Scale was almost a pound less than what it should have been. I think she was close to 14 LBS.
