Who knows. It was some other name before they figured out it worked on Rayburn. Then they started calling it Rayburn Red. But I'm with you, the first I recall was the Spot.

bayuo boogie,bomber pin fish,hot spot.and one other as old as the boggie,that I do not remember..pin fish and original hot spot were what is now called one knockers..did I just date myself??? they were called running baits,not lipless crankbaits,if I remember right....

I love red traps, especially in the spring and when I'm fishing a lake that is stained year around.

No question, cotton cordell hot spot. That bait was effective on any lake in the spring and late fall into deepwinter.... And don't forget during certian times, the stick bait ruled (clown)... I loved throwing as a youngster the Bagley BangOLure(Gold foil,white belly,blk Back.... Yeah I'm old....But I caught a lot of fish, big ones too..

there were a few before the spot Billy. youre dead on too about gold and black, must have fished with Tommy Martin too...

I use an xcaliber SB in that color on Winnsboro starting in late February to about late June or so.....kill'em

Hey RedSkeeter, Still catch a lot of fish on BangOlure. Have silver black stripe, gold black stripe, blue black stripe. Even have the red and purple stripe. Really good clear water bait in the spring. Wacked um good on these at Broken Bow last spring.

The ones that guys were using red fingernail polish to paint red. Whatever brand they had.
