So, what does having some holes in the blade of a chatterbait do to the action of a bait? What are some examples of situations when you would chose the "solid" blade vs. the blade with holes in it? I use a chatterbait quite a bit, but have never used the type with the holes in it. I was looking on fishingskirts.com and wanting to make some and they sell both kinds of blades so I was just wondering what you folks think of them. Thanks.

I have fished with both and the ones without holes swim better

for store bought I prefer the booyah, they seem to not "lock up" so much compared to others. lock up means just run straight without the wobble.

The ones with holes are supposed to bubble. My personal belief is it's something to sell anglers and just different enough to make you think you need both. It's like jigs coming in 40 different colors.

I have the booyah one and don't like it. I have to reel it too slow to keep it from coming out of the water. Too much lift on the blade. Anyone know where you can get them in black like the phenix ones?

The ones with holes create bubbles and leave a trail through the water column. I find that the one's without holes works better in clearer water, while the ones with holes add a little extra something in dirtier water.

Thanks for the good info guys. If I am hearing you correctly, the holes are supposed to do a few things like bubble or add vibration, but really they add some unpredictable action and "lock up" and mess up a retrieve. I have never had a problem without the holes and I think I will stick with that. Thanks.
