I have just recently begun to learn more and do more worm fishing for bass. The lake where I will be doing most of this fishing has has a lot of timber as well as submerged stumps. On our most recent trip both my son and I lost fish that wrapped us up under water. Now I know that can happen regardless of equipment, but our more experienced friend suggested that part of the problem is the stretch in the mono lines we were using. So I am looking for a two part suggestions for line. I am currently using 15# P-line CX on a baitcaster and my son (he's 10 and quite proficient with a spincaster, but I don't think he is quite ready for a baitcaster yet) has 10# Cajun red on his spincaster. I know there are a large number of "low stretch" monos out there and would like your opinions on them and also if they will work on a spincaster.
Thanks in advance for your help, Tom P.S. - Posted this on the Bass Fishing section as well. Just wasn't sure where the best place to ask.

The big debate is weather or not mono actually stretches more than a fluorocarbon. I know most people on here, and the general fishing public, believe mono has significantly more stretch. I really don't know how I feel but according to a test done by tackletour.com, both have about the same.
The difference between mono and floro is the abrasion resistance and the fact that mono floats. If you are fishing structure you need to be using floro to eliminate the problems you stated above.
Both mono and floro have their respective appropriate applications but floro is much better suited for fishing cover, structure, etc...
I use Floro on everything I fish other than top waters. It just seems stronger and I like to know that if a fish gets wrapped around something I can pull him out and not worry (as much) about the line getting cut up.
Maybe the fishing industry is really making out well charging 300% more for floro, but I believe you get what you pay for and if you are losing fish right now, my suggestions would be to switch.
Hope this helps.

Mono for top water, braid for slop and timber and Flouro for deep. Most else I would say has been said by others. One other thing, Flouro and braid for sensitivity.

Braid saws into timber. Flouro and check line often.

I always always always use braid. Just a personal preference!

Switched to fluorocarbon recently and really like it. I feel it has help because it less visible, but it confuses me when people say it is more abrasion resistant. With mono I can tie any knot without wetting the line and it would not weaken the line. But tie a fluorocarbon knot without wetting the line and pulling it down too fast, it breaks every time. Even with a slight tug to cinch the knot down it breaks every time. This is a contradiction and lowers my confidence level to land larger fish. Not enough to change back to mono...yet.

Don't rule out pline copolymer line sinks like fluro stretches similar to mono and is tough as hell with a smaller line diameter
