Fishing in east Texas this past weekend I caught an interesting looking bass. It was a hair over 23 and 1/2 inches long. I'm told it should weight close to eight pounds and this thing was between two and three. I don't know why I didn't put it on the scale because I had it right there with me. Just so you know, other fish that come out of this lake are footballs. These fish are very well fed so my guess is that she was really sick or really old but probably both.

Any guesses?

Tight lines,

Jackson

In a lot of those cases, bass have plastics in their bellies, could be 1, could be 8. People throw them in the water and the bass eat em' eventually. DON'T THROW YOUR BAITS IN THE WATER, PEOPLE!

It is a catch and release lake but I think the owners would have wanted me to cull this one.

In hind sight, I should have put her in the livewell until later and filleted her to see what was going on. I bet a worm of the plastic variety may have been the culprit.

He's talking Plastic worms. Those worms fall off a Hook during the fight sometimes too. They (Plastic Worms)don't always get thrown in the Lake.

It's a fish on the down side of life. Big head, big eyes and skinny as the day is long.

The pond needs to be thinned out, they need to cull some bass, too many bass not enough food.

You didn't read the original post......

This is a trophy lake in East Texas where the bass are well fed. Multiple fishing shows have been filmed here and another one is there today. They aggressively harvest each year by electroshocking.

That's the reason I posted the picture due to the stark contrast with the other fish we caught. This girl had something wrong.
