I have never fished Sabine Pass or Sabine Lake, but have been told that trout, redfish and flounder fishing has been good of late. I also know that with the full moon the tides can be a bit crazy. The plan is to wade fish as I do not have a boat that is salt water compatible. Anyone willing to give a saltwater novice some pointers as to how I would be able to catch some fish to eat?

Sea Rim State Park on the beach you have to wade out pretty far and cast, I dont do alot of saltwater fishing but about 3 months back SALT Club had a kids fish day and they had caught about 40 bull reds.

I don't think you will be able to wade I haven't seen anywhere with hard bottom it is mostly mud you can catch fish from several places from shore though like keith lake cut, the lake side road on pleasure island, and the texas bayou cut

I have my waders ready to go for any situation. We would be pretty happy with any fish we catch as long as they are good eating, with the full moon and good weather looking ahead (knock on wood) I am feeling pretty confident. I know how to catch them on a speck rig or other artificial baits, I just hope to catch some flounder along the way.

your waders wont do you any good when you step off in 3 feet of slop mud you will need to be very careful if you plan on wading sabine it is not a hard bottom. if your going after flounder I have heard good reports from the battle ground sea wall just work you way down the wall vertical jigging right next to the wall slowly

I don't plan to wade in Keith Lake anymore, but if it is slow we might go try the surf. I could use the waders there.

dick dowling is usually loaded with flounder this time of year. the umphrey pier is another good spot and you could run into a bull red there
