I know this has been asked tons and tons of times. Yes I know 2 is better than 1. I'm trying to decide if I start off with just 1 and save my money for other items.

My question is to everyone that owns only 1 Power Pole or Talon. How frequently in the situation of only having one is it inadequate? Do you find that every time you use the single you really need a second for the situation? Does the boat really pivot in circles only having one or will you just have to fish from the back of boat sometimes by only having one. Are there any other problems you have encountered with only having 1 rather than 2?

I will have the funds for 2 but I am considering 1 and then wrapping the boat to advertise my business with the rest of the funds.

Thanks
Jeff

I had only 1 power pole for almost a year before I got the second one. Once you get used to positioning your boat with one it's not bad at all. It's much better than no shallow water anchors at all.

You can get a manual shallow water anchor for the front end of your boat and in most situations it works well.

I've had only one Talon for a year now. Yes, I'd like to have a second one but I'm not sure the "need" outweighs the "want". The most common place you need two is working a bank or shallow flat going into the wind. When you put the Talon down of course your front end is going to blow around unless you stay on your trolling motor. In cases where you're going with the wind and put it down, you will swing around a little but definitely not in circles. I use mine a lot when going with the wind and catch a fish, need to re-tie, of if you are simply going too fast past a "man that spot looks good" spot. It allows you to fish a producing area way more thoroughly than not having it.

Pretty handy to have when flipping thick hydrilla, too. I've used mine in 12-15' of water when the hydrilla has been only 3-4' deep. Of course it doesn't hold 100% if the wind is blowing hard but it sure helps.

WARNING - your coangler is gonna complain a little! LOL

I have had a single Talon for almost 2 years and haven't had very many times where I really thought I needed 2. Would like to have another one but right now I am not going to spend the money until I see how things are going to turn out.

I have one PP and there is times I wish I had two my next boat will have two but one works fine. Honestly I will let the wind blow me around then I will just move the back of the boat or if there is a stick up close I will lay the front of the boat on it to hold the nose still.

I have the same on a Skeeter 20i and it works fine. I don't know if the gain/cost of a second one would be an asset.

I've had a single Talon for over 2 years. The only time it is a real issue is when I'm sight fising for bedding bass. I've got a 8' push pole that I use up front to keep the front end from swinging around when I need to fish a specfic spot.

I just put one on my boat 2 weekends ago. It's nice to have I'm glad I did, but I would like to have another.

There is a little bit of managability to get used to with only having one. It's nothing a tap tap on the trolling motor can't fix though.

I am glad that I did go with just one though. It saved my bacon this last weekend with the almost gail force winds on the lake. I got hung up in the rocks on the dam. As I went nose first to the dam to retrieve my lure the back swung around, just as the boat and the motor was getting close to the dam I thought to drop the power pole. The only thing then was the trolling motor hung up at that point.

I have a single Talon on my Ranger Reata and before that had a single Power Pole on a ProCraft. Each time conclusion was and is now that one is better than none. Once you learn to "read" where the front end goes with wind/current it is fairly easy to know how to position boat for maximum efficiency. Two would be nice but then again those extra funds can go towards upgrade graphs, more tackle, better gear,etc...even a nice gift for the wife for allowing all the time on the water with no complaints...HINT...I'm just sayin... fish

I only use one. No complaints. Yes, two would be nice but I'm happy with one. I mainly use it to re-tie baits and hold the boat when I'm not on the TM. Also, if you in stumps, drop the pole and turn the boat so the wind pushes the front end against the stump.

I would just recommend getting one at first to see how it works and how much you'll a actually use it. I have one 8ft pp and it works greats. Btw, I think you live just down the street from me smile

Once get used to what the boat will do with just one down its no big deal. On flats you can put it down and fish off the back

Curious, if you're going to have one, then how do you decide to which side you want to mount it?
