Needing some tips on fishing through November, went out last weekend and caught a few on slabs, two 14-16" on pencil poppers just out of soldier creek heading toward caney creek. The live bait catching still eludes me, threw a net for 3 hours and only caught about 30 gizzards.

this isnt a smart @ss remark, but seriously. Spend a few mornings looking for the threadfins instead of fishing. Live bait is the answer 90% of the time. If you can find the bait you will usually catch the fish.
The best guides on the lake know as much about the habits of the bait as the do the fish. that goes the same for the lure fisherman too.

It surely is an acquired skill, I commend all of you who devote so much time. I would love to take a trip with one of the guides but with my job I never know till the day before if I'll be off of work the next day so I have to get my fishing in on really short notice. Also does type of slab matter or mostly color I have tons of sooner slabs in all different colors they are more shad shape than other I've seen posted on the forum or in the local tackle shops.

Hey Kevin - just so you know during the week days (Monday thru Thursday) most Texoma guides can respond to a day notice so don't hesitate to call them to book your fishing trip. Especially now in the fall and winter week days lots of trips are booked the day before because folks watch the weather for a nice day.
MagicWand - Let's go Striper fishing on Lake Texoma!!

I'm no respector of slabs! I just want them to work and be affordable. That being said...got my personal best hybrid this year after purchasing a ton for a good price at Moes Tackle Shop. He'll always give advice on how to use them and where to use them.

Thanks Sadisdix! I put lots of info on my blog page. It's very easy, hit the RSS feed button. When I post a new blog it will show up in your email. Break out the Sassy Shad and Cocamoe Minnows. Soft Plastics will rule till March? Yes you can catch on slabs, but you will catch bigger & more fish on paddle tail swim baits. http://moestu.blogspot.com/2013/10/fall-striped-bass-and-hybrid-striper-in.html
