Bought a Midas from BPS yesterday. $70 on sale.

Good buy or not?

I have 3 that I use on my Yak. I bought them a couple of years ago before going all Revo. One of the smoothest reels I have ever used. The one thing I do not like is the dual brake control. Takes some getting used to. They have held up well.

I bought one and had to return it. The casting button or whatever its called would not release and let the reel engage to retrieve. The guy said its the first time he's ever seen that happen, usually a great product. I didn't take any chances though ended up getting one of the BPS combos.

This is a problem with these reels. I have had several of them. I took them to a reel repair shop and they said they have a poorly designed thumb bar assembly. It's a shame because the rest of the reel is very well made.
