Been a while since I posted a good report..just been way too busy fishing everyday smile

Fishing the last month has been very good..up until his week had been starting most of my trips chunking top water plugs and doing very well on big fish..had a few awesome days in the rain and some very good days when the suns been out..
Been getting big top water fish shallow in 1-5 feet of water right at sunup and then some days chasing smaller schooling top water fish lat in the day.
That's the good news. The bad news is that for me the early top water bite for big fish has kinda fizzled out and I haven't even seen much schooling the last 5 days..
The good news is.. The bait fishing has been very good and now turning excellent!!
We had been catching a lot of smaller box fish the last few weeks but this week Been catching much bigger fish on bait than the last few weeks and getting limits easily everyday!! Most days catching all our overs and nice big box fish to go with em!!
No more dinky fish for me till April smile smile

For me all the best fish have been in the mid lake areas..I've Been fishing from the north island ledge to washita point .
The better fish have been holding pretty tight to the river ledges and 90% of the days have been holding near the top of the ledges in 35-40 feet of water .
I hate to say it but I'll run the tops of the ledges for a few minutes and mark a few scattered fish...gets baits down and within 10-15 minutes able to get these fish to bunch up under my boat and rock and roll on em for hours.someday days I'm getting limits on one anchor and some days have to move once or twice, but seriously it's been that easy..
I guess if your looking for love in the right places.
Although it's been good it keeps getting better everyday and the fish are getting bigger and bigger each day as well...I expect in the next week all he!! Is gonna break loose as we are now in what I call prime time.
Been seeing some birds working in deep water channels and huge schools of fish under them 30 feet..only problem with those deep fish is they are moving fast and won't seem to stay under me like the fish on top of the ledges .
I expect I'll be starting to chunk some swim baits in the next couple weeks, but it's real hard to not bait fish when it's just so dang good.
And don't forget to contact your dead sticking headquarters at moe's tackle cuz I'm gonna say in another month it'll be deadsticking time smile
Lots of birds working out west but for me there ain't been anything but baby fish under them..
Nows the time...get your guns and camo and hit the deer stands and leave all this great fishing to me !!! Seriously ,this time of year when a lot are out hunting or just don't wanna deal with the colder temps the lake traffic is very light..mon and tues this week I saw a total of 6 boats out combined in both days..
Even weekend traffic is tolerable smile

Although all my trips are special , I'll post a separate report like I always do for arbor creek middle school.
As some of you may know I've I've been fishing the outdoor education class taught by tff'r "fishing with kids" Dan Mannering for many years now..once again this past Sunday we did 22 kids on three boats...and as usual those kids put a whooping on the fish..we left out at 7 am and by 10ish they had boated a limit of 220 ...the action was incredible and as always the kids did a fantastic job!, thanks teacher man dan for doing such a great job getting the kids ready for a great fishing trip !!
Just had to do a shout out for arbor creek middle school cuz I know teacher man dan shows all his kids these reports smile

If your contemplating a trip to Texoma now s the time???from now until after the first of the year it just doesn't get any better !!

Thanks JD, this is just what I was looking for. I will be there next Tuesday and will be fishing thru Saturday.

I was only really worried about the bait. Last time down I was able to get bait by putting lights on the dock and getting them right out of the slip. Our dock is in soldier creek and I was wondering if the guides are getting bait under lights just outside of the creek on the channel edge or perhaps back in the creek.

Anyway any input on bait gathering would be very helpful.

Thanks so much.

IDE guess either in back of soldier creek or Caney creek for bait..should be easy and back to normal by next week once the full moon goes away.

THis sounds about right. I was at Mill Creek yesterday in my little pontoon. Wind was too high to go out to the islands so I cannot second the big fish. I saw a single school of stripers hitting bait fish by the launch and trolled through it. I had multiple fish on both poles but only landed two. Had another nice one break the swivel off and it was over. ( dogone those shad for running so fast. They need to stand still and die so I can catch those stripers)

Thanks for the report JD.

I'm thinking real hard about heading out there Friday morning. But, I don't like hearing that the topwater bite is crapping out. I'm still on my quest to get a big striper on my fly rod. I was really hoping that some of my big topwater poppers would get plenty of use.

I'll be in a 21' FishMaster center console, if i can get out there.

JD, that's way too much to read. Can't you just post a few sets of GPS coordinates for us lazy types?
