since my vro has issues...leaking fuel and oil. going to bypass and premix. is 50:1 ratio correct for this engine ? will oil settle to bottom of fuel tank when boat is not being operated ? just a bit nervous about changing how motor was designed to operate. seen a lot of guys that are happy they made the modification. guess I am looking for advice on premixing.is it best to mix in 5 gal gas can or directly in the tanks?

Bypassing the VRO? You going to put an electric fuel pump on it? I would`nt try to use the leaking VRO. Pre-mixing is not an exact science. Close is good 2.5 to 3 oz. of oil per gallon. Just go off of fuel gauge % of full tank X 3 oz.of oil. You have to disconnect both the VRO electrics and the main oil tank electrics or you will get an alarm.

this is a pic of my 96 175 fast strike after vro removal. you have to remove it to bypass it, it will require an electric fuel pump be added. notice the switch that I installed for a cutoff, this is for safety reasons as well as just being able to shut off the pump if I need to do something with key on. academy sells a mix bottle that will give you the various ratios, use the 50:1 and mix in tank, oil will not settle out. use a can of seafoam for stabilizer/cleaner at least every other tank and if it will be sitting put a can in before you park it.

gary......yeah I mean remove vro. fuel is leaking from the fuel bowl that is directly above the vro pump. think its cracked. so the norm is electric fuel pump like hops setup ? could I put the pump between my tank selector switch and the pump bulb ? thank you for your time. really appreciate the advice

hop....yes awesome thank you for the pic of your setup. I assume your pump there gives your 175 all the fuel it needs or it would not be bolted up. should be good for my 150 also

I just put a brand new VRO on my 96 Venom 200. Didn't want to bypass it. Mixing oil and fuel I would have screwed something up. Rebuilt the head and new gears in the lower couple years ago...

hopalong. that's a really clean install of the elec pump. i did the same thing a couple years ago to a '93 200 xp after we lost the vro at wot and blew the engine. tore up the crank, welded a piston, put connecting rod shrapnel though the side of the block. it was ugly. couldn't salvage the engine so we started with a block and built it from scratch. new everything. got rid of the vro and put the fuel pump (same one you used)outside the motor housing and put an on/off switch at the drivers console to control the pump. thought that would be most convenient place. we did take out the bulb though. now i'm thinking that might not have been the brightest thing to do. did you have to do a lot of replumbing and moving things around to get that clean an install.

not much to it after the vro is gone, just pre fit and make sure it will work where you want it.

i got a little different layout on the '93 than you do but i think it will work. where did you get the couplings and "t's" for the fuel line? i figure an auto parts store should have the tubing. did they have the fittings too?
