I would like to hear some recommmendations on what would be a good spinning reel for bay fishing,

Have been using a Penn 4400 ss, but the anti-reverse keeps coming loose and I am tired of fixing.

Thanks in advance!!

I like the shimano spheros 4000 or 5000. I have a penn battle and my brother has the spheros is nice and smooth 5000 can handle over 200yds of 20lb braid.

Any 2500 sized reel works well, the more you spend the more you get....I'm a fleabay hound and have bought a lot of different reels for bay fishing, the winners of the never ending test?

The okumas have held up the best, out of shimano's, diawa, quantum, and lews. All my reels get washed and lubed every day they're used, I don't just throw them in the corner and expect them to work the next day.

I have a lot of older Penns, and they have held up well for me, parts are available to fix them, although I have never had the need yet.

I too am having great luck the Okumas's. I have 3 that still work great after 10 years in salt. Won't break the bank either.

I like my Okuma Trio 30-S as well as the Penn Battle 2000 series. The Okuma has the best drage I have experienced on any reel in any price range. They Okuma is also under $100. I don't like to fish with huge gear unless I'm offshore so the smaller rigs is what I use. No problems with either of those.

Shimano Stradic Ci4 but if you wanna keep it 50-100 for a solid reel, I really like the Okuma Trio 30 and 30bf for the bait feeder feature. Also Shimano Sarhara 2500. They get the job done
