Do you guys have any recommendations on paddle leash sizes for a 275cm paddle? I'm looking on Amazon and there are many to choose from and I'm just unsure on correct sizing.

Thanks!

I'm not sure why the length of the paddle would impact the need for a longer or shorter paddle leash ... seems to me that the determining factor is where on the yak you are going to attach the leash and how far from you that might be.

Maybe I'm missing something??

I've never used a paddle leash before and don't really know if there's a specified leash length for specified paddle length. I'm picking up a carbon fiber and want to protect my investment.

I am guessing any size paddle leash will do...right?

I braid paddle leashes and it doesn't matter the length of a paddle I've made the same length for a 220 as a 275, it depends on you. Standard length is 2.5 to 3 feet depending on who you ask. I am 6,6 and paddle a slayer, that keeps me a bit higher off the deck plus I have a long torso so a standard paddle leash won't work for me, it end up pulling against me as I paddle so I'd just take it off. Couple that with the fact that I stand and paddle and my leash is 6 feet long. So it's up to you. Long way to say that but I wanted to lay it out so there is no confusion. Pm me, I can hook you up with a nice custom leash that can match your boat.

James, roadblock makes some great stuff - check him out.

If you are needing something quick and cheap, I just use paracord - create a loop a bit larger than the paddle - slip some shrink tubing over the cord, sew the ends together using high test fishing line, cover the connection with the shrink, heat it and you have the paddle end with no extra fuss in the way. Some leashes have velcro and all kinds of stuff on them - I want a simple connection that can slide. The other end I do the same but around a clip and either clip off to my seat or other point - I prefer keeping the leash between my legs/feet. I keep mine loose enough that it can slide on the paddle so I can keep the length fairly minimal but long enough that I can place the paddle anywhere on the boat (it may have to slide down to the drip ring to do that but no problem there). The nice thing about cord is you can cheaply cut it to your desired length depending on where you tie off, where you like to place your paddle and how much or little leash you want laying around your yak.
