I really want to come down to the coast and do some serious fishing for a few days in mid oct, is there any place that I could rent a cabin for a few days thats got a boat ramp and thats some what safe? Any state parks or alike? I really would like to be in the Port A area if possible but will gladly look into other places if its highly recomended. Ive never done this, I really want to try my hand at some flounder and red fish. Close to the water where I could easly beach my boat or unload it quickly would be nice. Also want an area that my small boat can easly handle as its not that big, its only a 14' fisher marine with a 25 merc. Basicly its a bass tracker knock off. I dont need anything fancy, just a bed shower rest room and a stove. Any Ideas out there? Thanks guys.

Hows Goose island state park? They dont have cabins but do have tent camp sites and that would work too if its not too cold. Ive got a nice little tent that would work for the weekend. Does the park fill up in this time of the year?

Goose Island state park is nice. I've stayed there several times. The fishing from the pier can be good at times and you can launch your boat there also. With your boat, you should be able to find some areas to fish. Also, there are a couple of public ramps within a few minutes of Goose Island.

Try Fin and Feather--I think it might fit the bill. Here is the website: http://finandfeather.justgofishin.com/

Carl's cabins I believe are on Matagora bay. You get there by boat. Do a search on Google.

There are quite a few nice cabins for rent, and at reasonable prices, in Lamar, just north of Goose Island on St. Charles bay, and a public ramp right there. Most Rockport area realtors should be able to steer you to them.
