Tried this in general discussion and wasn't totally sure what the responders were saying (two of them). Just curious if anyone has any experience with the Iballhitchcam or any other similar device. I would like to buy one but don't want to spend the money if they are duds. Thanks for your input.

Something I came across while reading about the new Garmin VIRB is that Garmin makes a wireless b/u camera. It works with the GPS units and functions like a factory navigation/ backup camera. When you put the vehicle in reverse the b/u camera is displayed and once in gear or park the GPS screen comes back on. The camera is 150.00. I was impressed with the price pont and the functionality.

If you don't like the reviews on the iballhitchcam, check out the Garmin. Btw, amazon has 165 reviews if the iballhitchcam.

That makes no sense to me how the Garmin can be wireless yet know when car is in reverse? Can you explain

I use the Swift Hitch wireless cam. It is a great product. With the magnetic mount camera I can use it for either gooseneck or bumper pull trailers.

I have a cheap one I got off ebay for 30 bucks. It can tell if your in reverse because you connect it to the back up lights in your wiring harness which is powered when your in reverse.

The Iballhitch camera looks way overpriced.

It's hard wired to the vehicle for a power supply. "Wireless" is really misleading.

Built in in one of our Ford pickups, little screen in rear view mirror. GREAT aid in backing up to bumper hitch. Also has backup warning alarm, goes off when anything cat size or larger is in zone behind truck (can be turned off manually otherwise dam thing beeps constantly backing trailer). Has center indicator line right over ball and left & right boundary lines; all 3 lines appear to look back ~15-20 feet.

I have an Iballhitchcam and it works fine. My picture does roll a little. They say if I turn off my blue tooth it will fix the problem. I never took the time to figure out how to turn off my blue tooth.

My wife bought it for me as a Christmas gift a few years ago. I guess she got tired of me asking for her help. It is much easier with two people. The hitch cam does make it much easier to do it solo.

From what I keep hearing, the back up cams will eventually become standard on all vehicles instead of just the trim upgrades.

I looked into the Toyota brand cam that comes with the trim upgrade for my truck... $1500!

The only problems I keep hearing about the "cheaper" cams is condensation buildup inside. Anybody having issues with this on the brands mentioned?

They claim the Iballhitchcam is completely waterproof. I've never had mine in the water but there is an O-ring seal where you put the batteries in. The lense looks like it is totally sealed as well.
