I've been watching Beyond the cast with JP Derose lately. The show has a lot of potential. Hopefully he tests some of the brands they miss when testing stuff. For example in the latest one they tested braid and used the powerpro superslick and not traditional powerpro. Not sure what he was doing flipping heavy stuff with a MH rod.

He said mh the first time and heavy the second time.

I'm going to have to beleive he misspoke the first time.

7.5 mh flipping would be pretty whippy at that length I would think.

Of course all he was sticking was dinks so maybe it was plenty lol.

Show has potential but is very northern styled from what I've seen so far.

Well I understand where he is coming from and then again I don't. He is recommending a lighter rod as to not rip a hole in the fish's mouth and allow the fish to come off. But my opinion a good heavy action rod is needed to even get a positive hookset in the nasty stuff

[/quote] IMO the best wfn show to watch was Clark Wendlant (spelling) on fishing Texas. I have not seen any with him in awhile. I wonder if they are still filming with him?

I haven't seen a new fishing Texas in quite a while. They sure like to milk old episodes of every show on WFN.

I only use my heavy rod when fishing deep grass that is 20+ feet deep with a heavy dropshot.

When I go to Falcon, Amistad, Ivie and Mexico to fish the bushes all I use is my Finwicks in MH. 7 ft. and never have a problem pulling them out of any of the thich cover.
