How much harder is it to catch bass in a pond or lake that gets fished a lot? How much harder is it for you to fish a community pond or popular lake vs ponds or lake spots not fished often?

Bass may have small brain, but good memory. Especially Florida strain.

You are probably not from the old school of thought. I would seek out the private ponds and lakes to try to fish. Then I would provide some kind of service for the land owner which would be a win-win situation for the both of us.

Use to have friends and cousins that wanted to come down and fish Lake Fayette, but could only fish on Saturday. I would fish all five days of the week with good numbers and size. They would come down on Saturday and there would be, back then 150 plus boats out on the water,..and all the spots that were consistent were gone. Remember seeing Rick Clunn, back when he was still guiding out there doing the same thing I was,..move,.fish,,read the Humminbird. Lunch time went to Old Park Lodge and found out Rick struck out and gave his clients their money back. Went back out and late afternoon put a decent 7 lber in the boat. I no longer fish on weekends!!

I've intentionally skipped out of fishing mid week days this year to get better at catching fish on weekends, when I normally avoid the lakes. I haven't noticed much difference, its tough all the time.

You can still catch fish. Just use what the others are not. A different technique makes the difference sometimes.

Rayburn is a good example, it still has a ton of good fish, they are just hard to catch. Probably have more tournaments scheduled than ever and more to come.
Thanks, Billy

I can't count the times I have been catching fish during the week and come Saturday they just suspend and get lock jaw. I've also heard kvd say the same thing about kentucky lake. The fish learn the sounds and must know they aren't good.

I fish the grasslands a lot, which the bigger lakes out there get more pressure than one thinks. I go off the beaten path to the smaller ponds, the ones less that 3 acres in size (some only half an acre). Still public, but nobody thinks to fish them or think there aren't fish in them. My pb channel cat, a 10 pounder, came from a 1/2 acre pond out there and today I fished a pond I am very fond of. Its really not hidden, just does not get pressure. Caught 50 bass in a little over an hour. There are about 10-12 lakes and ponds out there that get pressure, and over 400 micro-ponds as I call them, that some of them I think I may have been the first person to fish. My rule is don't go with the flow. Be adventurous. Get a good pair of hiking shoes and grab a rod and fish a pond that you would least think to have fish. You might be surprised.

Lake Fork used to be a Camelot Bell. Add pressure and you see the effects...
