When in Michigan last month fishing the Pigeon River I saw a guide use a silicone-based floatant on his client's Adams fly, but forgot the brand name. Any recommendations?

I suspect that they're all pretty close. But Loon makes good stuff. I've had success with it.

I use Loon Aquel because it is what the store I was looking in had. Works good, but must be re-applied regularly.

Frog's Fanny Fly Treatment for when the fly gets slimed (assuming you catch a fish LOL) and LOON floatant before you make the first cast.

Don't put on so much floatant that you see an oil slick! Work it in with your fingers.

You should dry the fly on your shirt sleeve occasionally & make several false casts to dry the fly completely, then re-apply the LOON grease.

With this summertime heat, one false cast should work!!

I sell a floatant on my online shop. It's called High Horse, and it's made by a guy in Cedar Rapids, IA. They make an original version as well as scented and UV infused. ROD+RIVET Shop

Loon Aquel or Umpqua Bug Flote for me. Have some SA stuff that I don't care much for, so I'd advise staying away from that.

Gink works. Period. Some of the stuff, to remain unnamed, doesn't stay on as long as it should.

Gink works great for me. And I have a little jar of the dry shake. Can't remember the brand now.

Shed. Put on a drop; work it in with your fingers; then let it dry for 24 hours.

I was wondering if Gink was still out there since George passed a few years ago. He was another of those real characters in fly fishing. That stuff would always seem to leak so your vest looked it had gravy stains. George used to call about 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning just to B.S. for an hour or so. Kids just loved him since he was a lot like the uncle from hell.

If you're feeling adventurous, a little of the old fashion Mucilin and lighter fluid mixed in a small bottle. Dress all your dry flies and let it dry. Floats like a cork all day without adding any floatant while fishing. If you're lazy, Gink is great.

I've been thinking about the possibilities that "Never Wet" would present as a floatant.
