Whats yall Summer plan for catching carp and buffs? This is my first summer of carping. Seeing how when i got "hooked" it was late winter early spring. Are they like must fish, deeper in mid day to get cool and move in as the sun goes down?

Any advice is welcomed

Use a zig rig to search mid water for the carp as they tend to stay suspended

Deep winter and deep summer strategies are pretty much the same imo. Less bait deeper water. But they still gotta eat and its not impossible to catch. I got a triple in 100 degree weather in a lake that doesnt get over 6 feet deep before.

Its harder on the angler than the fish... Fish at night or under bridges wink We call it trolling when you fish under a bridge.

My summer strategy is to wait til fall. Lol.

I know you can catch fish this time of year, but the few trips I take during the summer are night time trips, and I'm usually fishing for catfish. I do alot more carp fishing during fall and winter.

I fish early, like 5am to noon. I wake up earlier on the weekends than I do for work during the week! A lot of times I won't fish a full session and I'm on ponds so its a little different. But to me, if possible, the strategy is still pretty similar. I try to find a feature and fish to it. Sometimes that's out in the middle in the form of a bottom change or drop off or weed bed. Many times its putting the bait right up in the margins with at least one rod as the bank itself is a great feature. So are overhanging trees or holes or rocks right near the bank. It seems they do get tougher midday to catch on most lakes. I hear people especially in the uk rave about zigs but I've only caught a few fish on them.

To make baits pop up you can also use foam or pieces of cork sticks. You can also make adjustable zigs if you're fishing really deep water. I like the adjustable because its so easy to change the depth around as you're fishing.

Yeah the temp is not what gets you down here, its the heat index. It said 99 degrees feels like 115 today. Geesh! That's why we do a lot of "Troll" fishing too if we can find bridges to fish under and why we take a break from the WCC in the summer.
