The Brazos bite was really good yesterday. Started with great top water action, when that slowed I switched to flukes and then some live and cut bait to round off the day. Largemouth, spots, smallmouth, blue and channel cat, and gar. 11 lmb between 16"-24", around 30 total, 7 blues, 2 channel cats, and landed 7 longnose gar. Broke a rod on what I'm pretty sure was a flathead, lost a huge buff right beside the yak, and dropped my pliers in the drink. cry
The 24"

The release

2nd longest bass, 23"

GB, I'm calling it a spot, but I catch some that sure look like sb/smb hybrids. The smallie was kinda funny too, with that humped back. Was a mean little cuss. Ended up getting stuck with my hook twice trying to lip it.

Lusca, you caught a large LMB earlier this year out there. Do you think you could have possibly caught the same bass again?

I'm too lazy to go back and check my pictures, but I caught a few in the 22"-23" range this winter and spring. This is my first to make 24", in a long time...like 2 or 3 years. IME not many bass in the river get much bigger, but I hope to find one eventually wink . I couldn't say for sure if it is one I've caught before, but it's possible. Catch and release definitely works!

Hey lusca, Do you usually find the blues mixed in with the channels in the same haunts? I have yet to catch a blue in the river but hope to correct that soon.

Also I will add while I have not caught this caliber of LMB in the River do to my lacking skills I have seen many that would be right up there (once you've laid eyes in em it's over IME). That stretch is full of LMBs in size and quantity. If Lusca has caught the same fish twice it's only coincidence or because he puts so much time on the water not because LMBs that size and larger are not plentiful.

Also I will add that the Brazos is dead no fish there. Golden Algae.

Oops hmmm now that I think about it...my old age and sunstroke must've gotten to me. Ain't no fish in the Brazos, it's dead! Now where the heck was I? confused I'm far from an expert on blues. I did catch the blues & cc in the same hole yesterday. I was seeing cc everywhere, though. Like you say, if you can see them, they usually see you already and it's game over! I try to go slow and make long casts for just that reason.

I always know when Lusca posts, the fish will be huge.... It just never fails. Well done, man!
