I have a guided striper trip scheduled for the 19th with my father with guide Mike Hallford I was wondering if anyone out there has herd of him and if so is he a good guide? And I was also wondering how the striper fishing has been on PK lately. Any information would be greatly appricated. Thanks!!!

I have heard of him though we have not met yet. Folks at the PK Chamber had nothing negative to say about him and his cards are right next to mine at the Chamber. Striper fishing is fair for most folks I talk to. There are some nice Stripers in PK. Just not alot of them. I have seen one limit caught that there was pics of recently. I have caught them in good numbers but not recently. I have been saying I was going to visit the bait hole and give them a shot. That may happen this weekend. I am not currently telling my customers we are fishing for Striper only. I make that clear when we talk on the phone. Go for it and post up with pics when you get back. There are some big stripers in PK right now. The trick is to find one and make it bite. Ill say it again. Post up and let us know how you do.

There are so many sand bass at PK, I don't see how anyone can say they are just fishing for striper. I've have those aggressive sandies hook up on the largest Bomber fat free shad so just changing to big lures may not make a difference. Also, my experience is that spripers mix in with these big sand bass schools. Sandies are following the bait and it only makes sense that stripers will be there as well.
I could be wrong. This is only my 3rd year of lake fishing. I've fished PK for that time and it's never been better. Does not surprise me that PK is getting some new people trying the guide biz. Lots of fish, but I'm not convinced there are lots of customers yet.

PKFishin,
You would be surprised how many folks i have taken there this year alone even if it is mainly for sandbass. There are some stripers to catch, but like Randy says, they were impacted by the Golden Alga. They were restocked and in two years the lake should be full of keeper fish barring any return of the algae.

It's good people are starting to re-discover PK.
Those striper fry better lay low until they get a little bigger. If they end up in Neely Slough sand bass will eat them. There are more sand bass in here this year than I've seen in the 3 years I've been on the lake.
