Will I be donating any tackle to the gulf? Im always kinda shady around rock piers but this looks interesting the jettys at surfside can produce good fish. But of course water color and the tide you are fishing are big factors in having a good day. I work with a Vietnamese guy and he goes there weekly and seems to always catch specs. He only fishes at the end. So if you have a good cart to carry all your stuff and walk almost a mile then get after it. But if the water is green further in then I wouldn't go all the way to end. Gets really crowded also at the end. I've always used live shrimp under a popping cork as does the other guy I mentioned. As far as donating tackle to the gulf well I usually let it have about $10 worth. Even staying off bottom I still find a rock to snag on if not paying close attention at times. Hope this helps and I am by no means a pro angler. Just the dirty low down.
