I agree about the dangers of headphones/ earbuds while kayaking, only use one so I can listen to music and also hear what's going on around me.

I was thinking something like this, $12.99 ain't too bad either. Just have to hook up to FF battery or independent 8 x AA power pack. Mount it in a waterproof box and it should work. Here are a couple I found using this stereo setup on the nucanoe forums. This is what I was thinking of myself This one is set up to mount on the freedom tracks on the nucanoe frontier. Battery pack is inside the PVC. Where did you pick up that setup?

I use my iPod Touch with an external battery pack attached to it for more play time......I connect it with a coiled headphone cord to an unamplified set of speakers and set the speakers on the front hatch cover of my Slayer 12 with a little Velcro.....the iPod rests in a dry box by my seat so I can access it easy......not real loud but it sounds OK and does not bother the fish....I fished 14 hours straight a couple weeks ago and did not use half of the available juice.....the speakers were 5$ from Walmart.....they are a softball sized ball that opens up in half to show the speakers.....if they give up no big deal........

Edit: not sure if you meant the speakers themselves or the waterproof kayak setups. I did not make either of the setups. They were posted on the NuCanoe Forums http://www.nucanoe.com/forum/outfitting/kayak-radio/

Now I just have to decide if I want to go this route and only have AM/FM or if I was to set it up for aux with a charger hooked up

Curious to see what the PA front hatch looks like on the inside.
Personally i put my phone in my pocket and just play Pandora. It's loud enough for me

So you are going to force anyone within ear shot to listen to what you are blaring into the air? This doesn't make sense but I guess a lot of uncaring people do it (ski boats, cars, etc). Don't be "that guy". Is there a problem using headphones at a reasonable level that you can hear other boats?
