I know a bunch of you guys fish the Grasslands, so...
I'm taking a buddy up there Sunday but will be doing bank fishing. We're going mainly to check it out for doing some hunting this fall/winter, but will fish too. Which lake would be best for bank fishing? We'd like to kick back in a chair with a cooler nearby and watch some poles for catfish. Whatcha think?

I have seen more people fishing black creek for cats than any other of the lakes I've been too. Thats just what I've noticed but there might be better lakes out there for cats.

Pretty much any lake Brain. They are all very low. Easy foot access

If you are checking the area out for hunting also, then don't bother with Black Creek. There is no hunting at Black Creek.

I spoke with a guy that was bank fishing for cats at Rhodes and he said that he caught several nice ones there. This was several months ago though.

All of the lakes mentioned are good, also Clear Lake. Saw some decent cats cruising there last week. Lower water levels is providing a bank fisherman's dream out there in the grasslands right now.

Don't know how its water level is right now, but Chicken Lake is great for cats too. Its a little more secluded and not as pressured. Gentlemen on here fished it awhile back and said he had luck. Water level was low then though, but I imagine its till fishable.

Went for a drive looking around but it was WET!!! Didn't get a line in the water but that's ok, those lakes are so low they could use the rain... I wouldn't complain if this rain lasted a week!

Even though the lakes are low. there is still good fishing in most of them.
I agree on the rain for a week

Amen, Terry. I have caught more fish out there with it being low than full. Would love to see them full again though so all that green will be submerged. Should make for some great fishing as well.

I haven't been out there since February. So bummed with how low they got. I've yet to get the opportunity to fish them at there prime. My mariner would have a hell of a time in the timber at clear lake right now
