Hit cottonwood last night. Fished from 6-9PM. Caught nothing from 6-8:30. The last 30 minutes we caught 5 bass. We fished a weightless fluke and a dropshot senko all night most of the time. We tried some poppers, and some spinners with no results.

The fish we caught were on watermelon flukes along the wins blown banks... Very subtle bites. Good luck.

Well today was not the best fishing day for me. Went to Dan's Pond as mentioned and figured I would try what had worked so well on sunday for me. This did not hold up. Fished for an hour without even a bite. Switched lures and fished for another 20 minutes before finally landing a bass that was close to 2.5. Fished for another hour with no results so I switched lures again. Once again, about 20 minutes went by and I finally managed to hook into what would be the biggest bass of the trip, a 4 pounder. Terry, that fish is for you. Hoping you are feeling better bud.
So the process continues until I finally catch 5 bass and decide to call it a day. Sunday, they were biting on ONE lure and were only biting on one shoreline. Today, they bit on 5 lures and were scarcely scattered all over the pond. Frustrating, but this is why I love this sport! It always throws you off somehow, sometime, somewhere. Keeps it from getting repetitive and keeps me interested.
The smallest bass was just shy of 2 pounds, and the biggest was the 4. Other three bass were 2-3 pound range. I had to go through a plastics worm, lizard, tube, and two different spinnerbaits to land the fish today. Definitely a hard day of fishing but left the pond feeling very accomplished. Hope anyone else who fished out in the grasslands today had a good trip as well.

Fished a creek today. The pond is private but the creek feeding it is in grasslands boundaries. Has huge bass in it and I had not fished it in a year so I figured I would see how the level was. It was low, no surprise, but the fish were biting. Only caught one bass on a spinnerbait but noticed massive sunfish around. Got a bobber, split shot, size 6 aberdeen, and a Creme mini tail red and white tube and had a blast! This creek has redear sunfish too, which are a rather large species of sunfish and not very common out in the grasslands. Most likely privately stocked by the pond owner.
Caught 9 sunfish; two bluegills (8 and 9 inches) and 7 redears (ranged from 4 inches to a massive 12 incher) The only other time I caught redears here was when I first fished this creek two years ago. I broke my PB for redears four times in a row with a 9 incher, followed by a 10, 11, and lastly the 12. Wish this creek had a name, I would submit it for a record.
At about 1, I headed over to clear lake. Lake is clear, 6 foot visibility, little too clear for my liking, but once again managed to catch redears. Caught 7 here too, biggest being 7 inches. All off boat ramp area on creme mini tail tubes. I knew clear lake had bluegill and small bass, which I was expecting to catch, but did not know it had redears as well. Good to know now smile

Saw a huge channel cat by the dam at clear lake too, maybe a 8 pounder, and one was swimming around the boat ramp, maybe three pounder.
